Sun Care - SPF 50
SPF stands for "sun protection factor" and 50+ is the protection factor. A sun cream with a protection factor of 50+ offers a very high level of protection against the sun's rays, blocking over 98% of UVB rays that are particularly harmful to the skin. In concrete terms, the time it takes to get a sunburn is 50 times longer with this type of cream than if your skin had no protection.
The difference between SPF 50+ and SPF 30 lies in the level of protection against UVB rays: the harmful rays of the sun responsible for sunburn. SPF 50+ offers higher protection than SPF 30, filtering out 98% of UVB rays, while SPF 30 filters out around 97%.
It's perfectly safe to tan with SPF 50+ sunscreen! SPF 50+ sunscreens filter out around 98% of UVB rays, so only a small proportion reaches the skin. It's therefore possible to tan even with this type of sunscreen, and you're even more likely to get an even tan than if you use tanning products that could lead straight to sunburn, ouch!
