Solar expertise
At Lovea,
We' ve been solar experts since 1994. On this page you'll find lots of practical, easy-to-implement tips to help you make the most of your summer.
APPLY SUNSCREEN REGULARLY
For protected skin and a more even tan, here are Lovea's instructions for use: Apply your sun cream generously all over your body, not forgetting those little areas that also deserve your full attention: ears, temples, nape of the neck, hands, feet. Reapply every 2 hours. Even though Lovea sun protection products are water-resistant, we recommend that you reapply sun cream after every swim . Your sun protection product should be applied carefully to protect your skin, not to increase exposure!
PROTECT YOURSELF WHATEVER YOUR ACTIVITY
Beware, the sun is deceptive: just because you don't feel the heat of its rays on your skin doesn't mean that UV rays have no effect! Always use a sun protection product , even when there's little cloud cover, because cloud cover doesn't necessarily block UV rays. Be particularly careful at the seaside or in the mountains, and when it's windy or cloudy. It's not just at the beach that you need to protect yourself from UV rays: at a café or on a long walk, remember to protect your skin. At altitude and in the tropics, the UV index is higher, so don't hesitate to choose a sun protection factor higher than the one you usually use.
SEEKS SHADE AND AVOIDS THE SUN BETWEEN 12 AND 4 P.M.
These are the hours when the UV rays emitted by the sun are most intense. So your chances of getting a sunburn are much higher ! There's no need to overexpose yourself, as gradual tanning and protecting your skin with a sun protection product will ensure a more harmonious, longer-lasting tan!
ATTENTION TO REVERBERATION
Bright, shiny surfaces (snow, water or sand) greatly increase the amount of UV received by the skin and eyes. For example: at the beach, even under an umbrella, you are partially exposed because the sand reflects UV rays. Water can also amplify the UV rays received: when you go swimming, it feels cool but lets UV rays through, reflecting up to 30% of the radiation at its surface! Lastly, when you bask in the sun after a swim, the water droplets on your skin have a magnifying glass effect that amplifies the intensity of the UV rays.
USE AND ABUSE OF ACCESSORIES
Sunny days are the perfect time to show off your pretty accessories: sunglasses (categories 3 to 4 to protect your eyes) and a wide-brimmed hat (very trendy this year)! In your beach bag, don't hesitate to add a large parasol, some nice covering clothes and a sun protection product!
AVOID SUNBURN AND ONCE YOU'RE TANNED, CONTINUE TO PROTECT YOURSELF
Protecting yourself from UV ra ys not only limits the sun's harmful effects, it also helps you keep your tan longer. You'll have a beautiful, sun-kissed complexion even after the summer's over! Tanning is a natural barrier created by the skin to protect itself from the sun. But this barrier remains superficial, filtering out only a fraction of UV rays. Tanned skin is therefore less likely to sunburn, but it does not protect against skin aging! For this reason, the use of a sun protection product remains essential.
PROTECTS BABIES AND CHILDREN
Particular attention must be paid to the exposure of the very young. For babies, it's simple: never expose them to the sun. Until puberty, children's skin and eyes are more sensitive and vulnerable to the sun. It's important to protect them and teach them how to deal with the sun. Sunburns received during childhood considerably diminish the sun's capital (the skin's defenses against the sun's harmful effects), which is acquired at birth and is not renewed over time. If sun capital is depleted in childhood or adolescence, by adulthood the skin is less able to defend itself against UV rays, and the risk of skin cancer increases.
Last but not least!
For a summer with well-protected skin, choose suncare products suited to your skin.
